Airplane rides!

I pulled out an old favorite this week with airplane rides. This is something Duffy and I used to do all the time when he was younger. It's a load of fun and Lulu got to enjoy some of the tricks Duffy and I made up in the past (the chair, the swing, blast off, etc.). We had quite the ride!

Summer fish!

Duffy and Lulu have really taken to swimming this summer and are becoming quite the litle fishies. Duffy had a great breakthrough by putting his head under water and diving for some toys. We are so proud of him!!

Summer scream!

Last Friday night after dinner, we decided to go get some ice cream. It was a beautiful night and the kids enjoyed their treat!

The spoon doesn't fit on my nose...

Yesterday during breakfast, Lulu kept trying to hang a spoon off of her nose. She was completely perplexed as to why it didn't fit or work.

Hook 'em Horns!

This is for all my friends in Texas and to Pappy who just loves the longhorns (hee-hee)!

Pretty in Pigtails!

Thank you, thank you very much...

Taking a bow...

And now for our family puppet show...

In the spirit of taking home what he learned at camp, Duffy enlisted the help of Daddy and Lulu to create a new puppet show. Duffy made up the show and Daddy read his play. Here is what Duffy created:

Here comes the bright yellow sun.
Deep under the ocean lives an octopus and the starfish.
In the deep blue sea there were sharks.
And under the ocean lived a hammerhead shark.
Now under the swa lives a famile of whale sharks.

Lulu quickly tired of the play and decided to add some rock music to the show.

Jelly Fish or Jelly Monster?

As you can see, the class made some great crafts to accompany their performance. I particularly liked the jelly fish mask.

The Coral Star!

Sure...

Duffy was "coral" in the play and here is a picture of him saying his line "Sure".

A House for a Hermit Crab...

Last Thursday (7/16), Duffy peformed his final play for his summer camp. It was Eric Carle's "A House for a Hermit Crab". He did a fantastic job and my Mom and I enjoyed it immensely. While he looked pretty bored, he was more interested in practicing how to snap. I of course, though he was playing with boog boogs the entire time. Regardless, he's snapping and definitely enjoying his summer.

Silly Mommy!

Dessert Buffet

This weekend, I went to Winchester for a shower for Kelly's upcoming wedding. While I was gone, Stephen made a great dinner and dessert for the kids. Upon my return on Sunday, Duffy asked, can we have the dessert buffet again? What to my wondering ears would that be? Basically, it's ice cream with a buffet of toppings--sprinkles, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, malt powder--the works! Here are some pictures of the repeat on Sunday night.

Fort!

On Friday night, Duffy and Lulu decided to create a fort in Duffy's room. It consisted of bins from toys, stacks of books and blankets. Then the fort moved to Lulu's room. Same materials, different location.

And the end to a fantastic weekend..

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful weekend. Wonderful memories for years to come.

Sparkler Self Portrait

Duffy and I took this picture of ourselves with our sparklers.

Shiny Sparklers

As the sun went down, it was time to get out the sparkers. The kids loved them and I think Stephen (our resident pyro) had almost as much fun as the kids did.

Duffy joins the Dancing Machine

Once Duffy saw how much fun Lulu was having, he decided to join in on the fun!

Lulu Manilow

I think Lulu fell in love with Barry Manilow. She loved dancing to "It's a Miracle" more than my Mom did in the seventies.

Zingo!

Stephen and I had planned to go see "The Hangover" on Saturday night, but a terrible three tantrum and some crying "I want my Daddy", stopped us in our tracks. Instead, we played Zingo and watched PBS' Fourth of July special on the National Mall. It turned out to be a ton of fun and Lulu turned into a dancing machine as she loved the music.

Yummy S'mores!

On the 4th, we made yummy s'mores on the grill. I think Duffy had 4!

Stinker badinker

Lulu being the adorable stinker that she is...

Hip Hip Hooray! The 4th is here!

For the 4th of July weekend, we packed our car and headed out to Winchester to spend the holiday with Mimi and Pappy. We went to a great BBQ and fireworks display at the Winchester Country Club, Daddy played golf and Duffy and Lulu got to enjoy the festivities.

Kicking off the weekend with some snacks...
