Past the mid-decade mark!

Dear Duffy:

You turned 6! Can you believe it? What a year it has been for you. You have grown up so much this year. You actually grew taller, got bigger feet and started enjoying "boy" things such as sports, Star Wars, guns, dirt, etc. While you will always be my baby, you are turning into a great young boy. I love you so much and am so proud of you. You finished your first year of kindergarten and will be heading into first grade in a couple of weeks. It will be an exciting time for you, attending school all day, and we look forward to your accomplishments.

What else happened this year for you? You learned to read, you can use upper and lowercase letters, you love math, you love your scooter and your can ride your bike without training wheels. You also became a fish. Your swimming has improved greatly and you love jumping off the diving board (over and over again).

You tested your sports skills this year as well, with soccer, tee ball, golf and tennis. We are still waiting to see what you gravitate toward, but we're just happy that you are trying so many things.

You still have an expansive vocubulary and you love to learn. You also love to laugh and love to make others laugh. You are starting to figure out how to navigate to get your own way and figuring out how to insert yourself into dynamic play.

You still love your Daddy so much and love when he teaches you new things. You are also a wonderful big brother to Lulu and we love when you include her in your playtime.

To me, you are still my baby boy. I love your big eyes and sweet smile and love to see and hear your laugh. I am so proud of you and continue to be impressed with how smart you are. You are a kind, giving, sweet, smart and outgoing young boy. You make friends so easily and you just can't stand being alone. I am so proud of you and all of your accomplishment and love watching you grow up every second of the day. And, I will always love squeezing you and telling you "to stop growing up".

Duffy: I love you with all my heart, more than I love candy.

Happy, happy birthday Duffydoo. May this year bring you happiness, good health, new experiences, and laughter. I love you with all my heart.

Love, Mommy

Celebrating 6!

Happy 6th birthday sweetheart! What a year it has been. I am sorry for the belated post but this year will be a birthday you always remember. You celebrated your 6th birthday with all of your "cousins" at The Homestead. You slowly woke up (which is very unusual for you) to Charlie and Parker, Mommy, Daddy, Duffy and Lulu singing Happy Birthday to you. Then you were up in a flash and headed downstairs for your special birthday cake made out of donuts (thanks Barboo). All of your cousins sang to you and then you opened up some great presents.

Zip..you were off. Playing golf and then to the shooting range, you had a great day. You also had a special treat that night with an ice cream cake that Kate and McRae ordered through room service. What a great day! Thanks to everyone for celebrating with us and making it so special.

Happy 6th Birthday Duffy!!
